About Us

The Sugar Skols were forged in 2023 by a family bold enough to take a chance and answer the call. What began as a small first season—just two events—ended in Gold level victory and set the tone for everything that followed.
 

Then came Relay Weekend 2023: Hope Floats—the moment everything changed. That weekend was electric. As newcomers, we didn’t just witness the power of One Team, One Dream—we felt it. Bonds were forged on that track, hearts were ignited, and a fire was lit that still rages within us today.
 

In 2024, under the banners of Captains Rafe and Naomi Odinson, the Sugar Skols went to war. From the first charge, we never looked back—storming our way to Emerald Status and raising over one million Lindens. Our events roared louder, our presence grew bolder, and our energy became impossible to ignore. We didn’t just join the Relay community… we carved our name into it.
 

By 2025, the Skols charged into our third season with fire in our veins and the playbook finally mastered. We flooded the calendar with events and experiences, fueled by the hype, heart, and unrelenting enthusiasm that had become our signature. What started as friendships on the relay track evolved into powerful bonds and partnerships across the community. Through grit, determination, and a deep love for this cause, we found our true stride—crushing goal after goal and surprising even ourselves as every milestone fell.

Perhaps the most notable and impactful portion of our season in 2025 was the execution of the inaugural “Viking Games” that invited all teams to register for 4 days of round the clock competition and celebration on a near Olympic scale. While we had high hopes for these games we could not have predicted the magic that would ignite in the season of Magic in this event that’s purpose is so much more about all of us in this fight than any one team. 

In the end, The Sugar Skols managed to break the ALL STAR barrier on the eve of relay weekend and finish as the top fundraising team of 2025. And with this accolade came another even more important distinction and greater honor – being named The Spirit of Relay team for this season (which we co-share honor with our sister team, Hope Floaters). This achievement is something we hold at the highest level of pride and strive to carry with us the same state of mind that earned us the distinction to begin with in seasons to come.

2026 Wild for a Cure brings big things for The Skols. Between last season and this one we have combined forces with two amazing teams – Hands, Hearts and Hope and The River of Life and relay may not be ready for this trifecta! Wyld, Captain of The River of Life returns home to the team she helped found and we have our most ambitious season yet planned  as we solidify ourselves no longer newbies. And with this powerhouse season comes the absolutely jacked up Viking Games that will take place over a 9 day period at the end of the season celebrating our fellow teams in bigger and better ways and adding more than double the competition events from last year. We have brought on powerhouse talent from DJs to organizers and are focusing our brand on PRIDE and our ever present, loud, Viking way. It is who we always have been. And we only intend to get louder. Watch out, relay nation. The Vikings are back! 
 

We fight with purpose. We fight for those still battling, for the survivors who stand tall among us, and for the loved ones we carry in our hearts. Our shield wall includes warriors currently facing this disease, and we stand shoulder to shoulder with them—unyielding, unbroken.
 

Rooted in Norse Pagan tradition, the Sugar Skols live by the Viking code. We bring that warrior spirit into the Relay community through relentless fundraising, fierce support, and unwavering encouragement. Our modern art of war is loud, passionate, and fueled by unity. We rally beside every team and bring our fire to your fight as fiercely as we bring it to our own.
 

Make no mistake—we may be newer to this battlefield, but we are ferocious. We take bold action through massive events, aggressive campaigns, and even Viking meditation—because strength without balance is nothing.
 

This team thrives on PRIDE. We stand loud and unapologetic in support of the LGBTQIA+ community, embracing our rainbow in every form—from our diverse team and radiant Bifrost track to our neon-bright decor and iconography. Our colors are not just decoration—they are defiance, love, and unity.
